Native Americans used toys and games to teach tribal customs and beliefs to their children. Games were usually played in groups to teach cooperation, coordination, and other skills. Some toys just amused young children while their parents worked but games were more than just for play. Games played by both adults and children have been used for learning, entertainment, worship and are a way of handing down tradition and knowledge to younger generations. Even the making of game pieces, learning the rules and practicing the skills used cultural knowledge.
